Mexico city is incredible and doesn’t lack of options when it comes to food.

This list was hard to pull and beyond it, there are so many other great places you can explore and try, these are just a few of the places we love!

Prices vary depending the occasion but all are worth the try!

PS. The photos could’ve been better, but we preferred to share pictures of special moments we had in these places.

Eat

Taquería Orinoco

Spread all around the city, they are the best hangover cure or little snack on the go. Suitable for all ages and price ranges. Tacos for everyone!

Av. Álvaro Obregón 179, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Terraza Cha Cha Chá

Overlooking at the “Monumento a la Revolución” it has a great sunset spot terrace filled with Mexican food. They make a super tasty guacamole with “Chapulines” that is worth the try!

Reservations are encouraged.

Av. de la República 157, Tabacalera, Cuauhtémoc, 06030 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Lardo

Incredible spot in one of our favourite areas from the chef Elena Reygadas' cooking of Mediterranean food from a wood burning oven. They also make incredible breakfasts, but it is a great spot for any time of the day.

Reservations are encouraged, but you can also put your name and wait in the queue with a nice coffee from their side coffee shop.

Agustín Melgar 6, Colonia Condesa, Cuauhtémoc, 06140 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Panadería Rosetta

Wether you are a traditional converted concha man or are into more innovative pastries, you can find the most delicious pastries. Baked every morning and carried by hand to their sister restaurant Rosetta you cannot miss this! Our favourites are the almond roll and the guayaba roll.

If you go, please save us one!!

Colima 179, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Rosetta

The restaurant of the bakery which won’t disappoint, it is on the list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2023. A fusion of Mexican ingredients with Italian inspiration. The menu changes with the seasons and the ingredients available.

All round a yummy experience.

Reservations encouraged.

Colima 166, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Tetetlán

Originally meant as stables designed by Luis Barragán this now restaurant has an incredible twist on Mexican cuisine, anything here is incredible. Our recommendations here are the Tlayuda and the elotitos Enrique as starters and any of their mezcal cocktails.

Reservations are encouraged.

Av. de Las Fuentes 180 - B, Jardines del Pedregal, Álvaro Obregón, 01900 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Delirio

Really good Mexi-Mediterranean breakfast spot in Roma with a really nice ethos of sustainability and using only fresh produce. Simple nice and easy. Grab and go in a really nice area where you can walk around. Suitable for all family although is a bit small in the inside.

Monterrey 116, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Pujol

The fanciest of the recommendations here and if you are looking for a little “because I’m worth it” where you feel like you just walked into “The Menu” then you should try it. It is a Mexican omakase experience for a special occasion. Everything is delicious and carefully served to you. Their tortillas of Palo Santo are insane!

Reservations open with 2 months in advance and good luck!

Tennyson 133, Polanco, Polanco IV Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11570 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Mandolina

One of Titis’s favourite spots. If you go to Polanco’s restaurant you’ll be surrounded by lemons that take you to the Amalfi coast.

Recommended for a boozy brunch experience where cocktails here have a twist or a nice lunch meal. Their specialty and recommendation is Pasta Mandolina, but Titis’s recommendation is the Salmon with risotto and lemon.

Av. Emilio Castelar 135, Polanco, Polanco III Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11550 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

ENO

From the same chef as Pujol (Enrique Olvera), it is a mini-franchise of casual and considerably more affordable cafes. If you go to the Jumex museum or the Soumaya museum it is a great place to break your day and have a nice breakfast or lunch.

Petrarca 258, Polanco, Polanco V Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11560 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico (This isn’t the Jumex one but their bigger one)

Catamundi

This is a spot we end up going and repeating every time we go. It is a fusion of mexican and international food. Very nice, tasty, affordable and very chilled. Suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just for a drink! With a bakery where you can also get a bite to go.

Fun fact: Over the pandemic this is where we had our anniversary dinner.

Alejandro Dumas 97, Polanco, Polanco IV Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11560 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Niddo

There are no better pancakes than in Niddo! Worth the queue but incredible for breakfast - be greedy and have the pancakes and chilaquiles, spruce it up with a Belini and finish it up in their sister coffee shop which is just in the corner with one of their fresh pastries!

We suggest you go to the one in Roma as the one in Polanco is only a cafe, which is also nice but we would suggest the full experience.

Dresde 2, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, 06600 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Wabi Sushi

Sushi in Mexico is an experience, rich with flavours and new types of sushi. This restaurant has Chutoro and Otoro tuna cuts which just melt in your mouth. We suggest you try their Batera which is like a crispy sushi roll - our favourite is the Salmon one.

No need for reservations unless you are going late at night, but usually ok during lunch time for small groups.

Cda. Orizaba 76, C. U. Benito Juárez, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Huset

This restaurant venue inspired some of the decoration for our wedding. With Mexican fusion food anything you choose here is a winner. Suitable for all ages and recommended for lunch or dinner, they also happen to have a mini-fridge in the middle of the tables with wine and Prosecco.

Reservations are encouraged.

Colima 256, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

Café Nin

Really nice quiet spot in Juarez, you can find breakfast, lunch or dinner here. A super versatile spot where you can have a pastry for breakfast, a soup for lunch or an extensive wine list for dinner too!

Havre 73, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, 06600 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico
